Family friendly bank holiday celebrations – Hatch

Looking for a fun afternoon in the heart of Manchester for all the family later this week? We’re showing three family movies on a pop-up big screen alongside a whole host of other fun activities this Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

There will be The Lego Batman Movie, Matilda and a singalong screening of The Greatest Showman. You can secure the best seats in the house by renting a deck chair for just £5.00 (£10.00 on Sunday 25th).

It kicks off on Thursday 22nd August with Lego Batman Movie showing from 1pm-3pm.

Alongside the movie there will be a load of entertainment for the little ones from the Playhouse Project with inflatables, bouncy hoppers, bubble machines, themed arts and crafts plus a PlayDoh corner all happening from 12pm-4pm.

Maisy Whipp will be on hand after the movie from 3-4pm for face painting fun. The kids (and/or you!) may want to go home as a favourite Lego hero from the film!

Friday 23rd August – The family friendly films continue with Matilda showing on the big screen from 1pm-3pm.

Alongside popcorn and ice cream rolls, The Cheesecake Fairy will be on hand to help the little ones design their own cakes with a special workshop.

There will also be the chance to have photos taken with some of the most loved (or disliked) characters from the film.

Saturday 24th August
There will be no screenings on Saturday 24th, but head to Hatch to eat, drink and shop and make Hatch part of your post Pride parade celebrations! Bulb. Flower Studio are creating a fantastic gypsophelia cloud arch using all of the colours of the Pride flag. The arch will be 7ft tall and 4ft wide, so Insta-perfect for posing in with your Pride posse!

Sunday 25th August will see Hatch transformed into the Big Top with The Greatest Showman Singalong kicking off between 2pm-4pm.

A deckchair for this screening will be £10. There will be circus skills sessions running throughout the afternoon – where adults and children can get an insight into circus skills from trained performers and get to have a go themselves. And if that wasn’t enough you’ll also get to see amazing aerial performances from Cloud Aerial Arts!

Our street food courtyard resident Mezze will be ensuring everyone gets the chance to munch on popcorn during each of the movies and making popcorn on site for the three afternoons priced at £4.50 per bag.

Another of our amazing Hatch residents, Ice Alchemists (which is home to the now famous ice cream rolls) will be setting up a “Toppings Table” for the three days, where adults and kids alike can get creative and make their own unique mini ice cream rolls with a variety of toppings for £3.00. A perfect movie treat for all the family.

For those of you with little ones – we’ll be providing a handy buggy park so you can stow away the buggy for the afternoon if you wish (located at Unit 15 in Hatch). And it’s all going to be happening under the cover of the Mancunian Way so the events will be fun for all the family whatever the weather!

There are a limited number of deck chairs available to hire for each screening set up in prime position for the best view of the films. Secure your deck chairs for any of the three movies through EventBrite or our Facebook page.
