We’re so excited to announce that Hatch scooped the award for Best Pop Up, Event or Project at Manchester’s Food and Drink Festival Awards on Monday 8th October!
The Awards mark the end of the annual 10-day Festival and are the north west’s highest profile celebration of the restaurants, bars and individuals that make Manchester’s food and drink industry so vibrant. Hatch triumphed in a keenly fought category that is designed to recognise the pioneering food and drink projects, events and pop ups happening in the region.
The award comes on the back of a successful 10 months trading period since we launched on Oxford Road in December 2017, having provided a home for over 20 businesses.
Created using reclaimed shipping containers and located underneath the city’s iconic Mancunian Way flyover, our traders are made up of a rotating line up of exciting and creative independent businesses – from street food to jewellery and homewares. Our two ‘anchor’ traders – Öl, a nano brewery which brews beer on site; and Takk – an Icelandic-inspired espresso bar; are permanent fixtures at Hatch, whilst the street food and retail traders change on a regular basis, allowing for constantly new experiences for consumers and a low risk, incubation space for independent businesses.
We also stage regular events and activity from resident DJs every Thursday and Friday night to poetry readings, live bands and supper clubs.
Hatch is conceived, owned and managed by Bruntwood Retail. Commenting on the award Toby Sproll, Director of Retail, Amenity and Community at Bruntwood said: “Hatch embodies what Bruntwood Retail is all about – supporting and nurturing businesses, and creating brilliant communities in which to live, work and play. Seeing some of our former street food partners Firebird Hope, Yadda Yadda and El Marchador Tacos, and our anchor coffee brand Takk, up for MFDF awards in their own right is tribute to the amazing operators who have helped Hatch to win this award. We’re excited about what’s to come with Hatch Phase 2, and our Circle Square development which is set to further transform the Oxford Road ‘innovation district’ in 2020.”
A massive shout out and huge thank you to everyone who voted!
